A Foshan factory that has been making air move since 1986
Guangdong Shanhu Group was founded in 1986 by Mr Huo Shutian, a Macau entrepreneur, as Foshan Shanhu United Industrial. It grew into Foshan Shanhu Electric and then into the group that trades today as Shanhu Group.
The company was built on tower fans. In Chinese retail the category is still often called 大厦扇 — the tower fan — and Shanhu is one of the names that defined it. That single product line funded the tooling, the test benches and the engineering team that the rest of the catalogue now runs on.
In 2005 the company began producing air purifiers, at a time when very few Chinese manufacturers had the filtration know-how to do it. Humidifiers, heater fans, circulating fans and outdoor fans followed, all sharing the same motor, airflow and safety engineering.
Today the factory designs and produces air-treatment appliances for household and commercial use, and exports to six continents. Products have sold in the tens of millions of units, with a substantial share going out under other companies' brands.
